10 Year Anniversary
We would like to extend our warmest greetings to friends, members, Board and Staff of Groundwork Milwaukee, on the occasion of its 10th anniversary. Launched in 2007, Groundwork MKE marks this year an important milestone in its history and service to the community. This is a great occasion to celebrate.

Salsa Salsa Contest
Groundwork is partnering with Fringe Fest for our second annual 'Salsa Contest.'
The event is a potluck for everyone who gardens, shops at the farmers market or just loves local food! The event is at the Kidz Stage along the Riverwalk at the Marcus Center. Sample locally made salsas and take a salsa dance class. If you bring a homemade salsa with locally source ingredients - you will get to sample some of the best salsas for free or try some salsa samples for $3. Vote for your favorite salsa!
The dance portion is welcome to everyone from absolute beginners to experts and is meant to be a fun way to try if you've never danced salsa before. If you want to simply enjoy some local food, great music, that's fine too!
Winners of the best homemade salsa win a gift card to Corazon.
Winners of the best salsa dance win a gift card to the Wherehouse and a portion of the money.

Groundwork Milwaukee is excited to announce that we have been selected for the Eppstein Uhen Architects annual Beyond Design Bike Tour!!
Eppstein Uhen Foundation is pleased to present our 13th Annual Beyond Design Bike Tour on August 17, 2017! Once again, we will be bringing together our partners, clients, friends and family for a fun day of biking on a beautiful scenic Wisconsin route in support of a worthy cause. There will be mileage options from approximately 20 mile route all the way to 100 miles, so riders of all abilities are welcome. The ride concludes with a dinner and networking event.

Kilbourn Garden Workday
Every 3rd Saturday of the Month Kilbourn Work Days (10:00-2:00) – There will be General Work Days at Kilbourn Garden every 3rd Saturday of the Month starting in May. Some of the possible tasks could range from turning compost, wood chipping path, garden maintenance. Groundwork Milwaukee will provide tools and wheelbarrows on these days. So come on out and help the community help the garden. Other 3rd Saturdays are: May 20th, June 17th, July 15th, August 19th

Kilbourn Garden Build
join us from 9:00-4:00out at Kilbourn Garden for a Garden Build! We will be fixing up and rebuilding damaged beds, as well as building a few new ones. (If weather does not permit May 6th is the back-up day)

Planting Seeds Screening
FREE SCREENING of "Planting Seeds" - a documentary short about our Young Farmers Program. The short was recently screened at the WI film festival and has been submitted to the Milwaukee Film festival as well!
Young Farmers Program teaches elementary and middle school youth small business skills through urban agriculture entrepreneurship - while fostering summer time literacy and healthy lifestyles.
Neighborhood Clean-up
Come join us from 11:00-2:00, Saturday, April 15th for a neighborhood clean up. We will start at Scooters Garden which is located on 2462 N Buffum St. and walk down to Riverwest Garden School which is located on the corner of Bremen and Clark. You can also learn about all the exciting things to come from Riverwest Garden School.
*If you have gloves and rakes please bring them with you.

"Planting Seeds" - Young Farmers' Farmumentary Screening:
Join Groundwork MKE for the FREE premier of Planting Seeds – a FARMumentary (documentary-short) about our Young Farmers during the 2016 growing season.
The screening will be held at Urban Harvest Brewery Friday March 10th from 7-8 including Q&A following the film with program manager – Nick DeMarsh and film maker – John Flaig. Stay after for conversations with fellow urban agriculture enthusiasts from 8-9 and to enjoy the wonderful new brews created by Urban Harvest.
*All are welcome! If you would like to reserve a seat please RSVP at the above link and arrive by 6:45pm. Seating will be on a first come first serve basis. Standing room available.
Groundhogs Day Garden Leader Symposium
Attend the 2017 Garden Leader Symposium. Learn how to start a community garden, apply for Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grants, the unveiling of GroundworkMKE 2017 schedule of events and workshops, hear community speakers, apply for garden and hydrant permits and much more!
The event will be held Saturday, February 4th, 2017 at the Menomonee Valley Urban Ecology Center - 3700 W. Pierce St. Milwaukee WI 53215

GWM Annual Garden Crawl - North Side Tour
GWM's annual Garden Crawl takes participants on an interactive tour of resident-led community gardens located within the City of Milwaukee. At each stop, garden leaders host a short tour that includes a brief history of the space and provide tasty food samples fresh from the garden.
This year, the event will take place during Doors Open on Saturday, September 17th and will include two separate tours. The north side tour will take place from 2:00pm - 5:00pm
Tickets are $20 and will be available beginning September 1st at 9:00am on Doors Open Milwaukee's website. With a capacity of just 30 people per tour, tickets are expected to go fast!
If you're interested in learning more about Milwaukee's urban agriculture movement and the residents who make it happen, be sure to attend this exciting event.

Now that the tomato harvest has begun, let's enjoy it! Join Groundwork Milwaukee for our first salsa contest - a potluck with a twist.
Have you ever wanted to try salsa dancing? Well here's your chance. The night will include a free dance class.
Whether this is your first time, you're a seasoned veteran or just interested in watching, enjoy the music with some chips and fresh salsa. Everyone is welcome!
This new event is a fun way to meet fellow gardeners and local food lovers alike. The event will take place at Danceworks on Sunday, August 21st from 5:00 - 7:30pm.
Bring a homemade salsa to get in FREE or pay $3 at the door.
Beverages including beer from Lakefront Brewery and Mojitos with locally grown mint will be available for purchase.
