Deconstructing the Stockyards
When the former Stockyard property at 13th and Canal in the Menomonee Valley was deconstructed this summer to make way for new industry, Groundwork Milwaukee teamed with AmeriCorps*NCCC in saving a bit of the Menomonee Valley history. They salvaged several hundred pieces of lumber that were transformed into beautiful picnic tables by workers at the Falk Corporation. Later in the fall, the team permanently installed the picnic tables in the Stormwater Park in the Menomonee Valley’s west end.
